War of the Roses 2016 (page under construction)

Well done to the North Wales team who came fourth in this years event. The Event is held by Red Rose Land Rover Club in the lovely village of Cartmel – South Lakes.

This is a great weekend, even for those who arn’t competing and just simply want a family weekend away with like minded people.

For those of you who Are not familiar with what the War is about. It was 9 sections – each section had a challenge or task to completed within a given time.
Some of the tasks where as follows:
Draw/Design a landrover (to scale) only using rope and wooden pegs (pictures will follow)
Reverse a trailer around a course (not allowed to put the vehicle in forward gears)
Get a bucket of water around a course without spilling
Get a Barrel on a sledge around a set course using a winch
Make a pully system in order to drop/lower fire extinguishers into a target zone without touching the floor

Chairman’s Chat

Chairman’s Chat NWLRC June 2016

Coming back from the Association Off Land Rover Clubs National Rally held by the Southern Rover Owners Club, it’s hard to think that it is June already, and almost half way into 2016. NWLRC has had a number of events, trial’s, green road runs, shows etc., with members enjoying and helping to put on the events that the committee has planned for the club.
Next weekend (12th June) we have our 1st Comp Safari of the year where we need the most number of members to come and help run the event. marshals are needed around the course to make a safe running of the Comp. This also applies to the Interclub at a new site on Anglesey on August Bank Holiday (26th / 29th August) where again we have a great number of events planned over the weekend.

Along with our normal events that are planned for the rest of 2016 in North Wales, we are putting a team in the War of the Roses competition, (2nd / 3rd July) NWLRC have been going up to The Red Rose Land Rover clubs event for a great number of years (I think the last time I competed in the event was in the late 80’s) And this year we are running one of the tests so please come along and either take part or support the NWLRC Team or again help me run the NWLRC test.

For more details of the events, locations etc. please go to the club website

Our new clothing and stickers are now available from the club shop.

Social Walk January 2016

Whilst the Club is a Land Rover Club, that doesn’t have to mean we cannot socialise without our vehicles, as was proven by Pam and Terry Brown when they organised a group walk which was around the beautiful Trefriw area.  The event seemed to be a huge success and everyone seemed to have a great day
